The Need to Outsource Everything

Lara Vaessen started as a trainee at Bewegin in 2019. A few years later, the organization began to grow rapidly, and Lara saw an exciting challenge for herself within the internal team. In her role as Supply Chain Manager, she now coordinates between the various internal teams and processes, including IT. “Before Root3, we worked with Vincent for our IT needs; he was a freelancer. As our organization grew, it became difficult for him to continue handling IT on his own, and we wanted to be able to outsource everything to a third party, ” Lara explains. Vincent joined Root3 as a full-time employee, and an introductory meeting between Bewegin and Root3 followed.“During that meeting, which our director Martijn van der Weijden also attended, we hit it off right away. That connection is very important to us, which is why we decided to partner with Root3 in 2022. Vincent once again became our point of contact, but now with the support of his other colleagues at Root3.”

Migration Completed in 1 Day

The entire Sumus organization operates on a single IT environment and uses Managed Workplace. This involves managing approximately 100 Macs. The number may be higher, as our talent works on clients’ devices but still uses the applications. How did the implementation go back then? Lara: “Our employees’ laptops had to be migrated to Jamf. Root3 spent just one day at our office, and by then everything was already taken care of! It was a bit more work for Martijn and me, but the rest of the organization hardly noticed it. It was also nice for me to familiarize myself with IT matters that way, since I didn’t have a background in that field.”

Great Communication with Remote Support

In the early days, Lara also made a lot of calls to Root3’s remote support team because she was collecting IT questions from across the Sumus organization. “I was—and still am—very satisfied with that. Our employees also know how to reach remote support easily, and they’re always easy to get in touch with. Remote support has a wealth of knowledge, and they can explain things in plain language without making you feel like a fool for asking the question—even if you’re asking it for the umpteenth time.”

Root3: Model Partner

Lara notes that within the organization, they’re very satisfied with Root3 as a partner. “Our cultures are a good fit—nice and informal. We have great communication through the monthly updates, the QBR, and remote support. For us, Root3 sets the standard by which we measure other partnerships. They’re the prime example of how we want to collaborate with other parties. We feel that we strengthen each other and that Root3 really goes the extra mile. They’re easy to reach out to, they actively contribute ideas, and they adapt to our needs.”

Collaborating on Security Issues

For example, security is now high on Sumus’s agenda. “Root3 works with us to develop solutions for our security and sets benchmarks that we then evaluate together for feasibility. And, for example, we also receive notifications when employees set a new password so we can verify that it’s correct. In this way, Root3 follows the security procedures we’ve established.”

Not Everything Is Set in Stone

Finally, Lara also appreciates that Root3 handles contracts very flexibly. Not everything is set in stone; instead, the service is tailored to the organization’s current wishes and needs. “We recently moved, and Root3 was there for us again to ensure everything in the new building was properly connected to the network. Soon, we’ll be building a development platform, and Root3 will support us in setting up the right infrastructure.”
