root3 - managed software

Managed Software

Software that's always up to date, without manual management or unnecessary disruption.

Outdated software is an unnecessary risk

Keeping the software on all devices in your organization up to date sounds simple. But in practice, it isn’t. Operating systems receive regular updates. The same applies to applications such as Microsoft 365, Google, or Adobe, and many other tools used on a daily basis.

Users often put off installing updates, and forcing updates can disrupt work. Meanwhile, outdated applications and operating systems increase the risk of security incidents. Effective patch management, therefore, doesn’t require more updates, but rather control over when and how you implement them.

Updates without any hassle

With Root3 Managed Software, we centrally manage updates to operating systems and applications. Together, we determine which software is part of your environment, establish an update policy, and ensure a controlled rollout.

Security updates are given higher priority than regular updates. Where necessary, we work with test groups. Employees receive clear notifications and sufficient time to complete their work within the agreed-upon deadline.

In addition, we provide a clear overview of software and licenses. This creates a unified, managed approach to applications, updates, and their use.

The benefits of Managed Software

Updates under control, software secure, and employees able to work without interruption.
Maximum Security
Outdated software is the leading cause of cyber incidents. We immediately address security vulnerabilities by rolling out critical patches quickly and accurately.
Controlled Rollout
When necessary, we first test updates with a limited group of users and then roll them out in phases to the rest of the organization.
LESS DISRUPTION
Users receive notifications giving them time to choose when to update. Is an update necessary? If so, a predetermined deadline applies.
STATUS UPDATE OVERVIEW
Reports show which devices and applications are up to date and where action is needed. This is essential for internal security policies and for audits.
SMART LICENSE MANAGEMENT
Pay only for what you need and use. We monitor licenses, usage, and renewals, and identify areas where you can save money.

What is included in Managed Software?

We combine automation, centralized management, and clear communication to ensure that software is consistently up to date.

  • App Catalog

Our in-house patch management solution automates the installation and updates of macOS applications and is used worldwide.

  • OS Update Management

Policies and update processes for macOS, iOS, and iPadOS. This is how we determine when updates are released, what priority they are given, and whether installation is required.
  • Software Licensing

We help manage, renew, and consolidate software licenses. This provides greater clarity and control over usage, contracts, and costs.
  • Root3 Support App

We use our own Support App to communicate directly with users—including to provide necessary updates. It’s clear for employees and manageable for IT.

Can Patch Management help mitigate security risks?

Wondering which software is lagging behind, where the risks lie, and what you can automate? We’ll assess your current situation and show you where you can make immediate improvements.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Doesn't patch management cause frustration among employees? That isn't necessary. Forcing a restart in the middle of a presentation isn't a good update policy. That's why we notify users in advance and, whenever possible, give them the option to choose a convenient time themselves. For essential security updates, however, we do set a clear deadline. This is how we strike a balance between ease of use and security.
Do you also support the software that our organization specifically uses? We automate the management of many common macOS applications. Do you use specialized or custom-developed software? If so, we’ll explore how we can centrally install and update those as well. This can be done, for example, using additional scripts or deployment tools.
Is Managed Software a standalone service? Managed Software is part of our Managed Services offering and integrates directly with Managed Workplace and Mobile Device Management, the central management of devices. The combination you need depends on your current IT environment and responsibilities.
How does Managed Software help with ISO 27001 and NIS2? Effective patch and vulnerability management is a key component of information security. With a centralized update policy, controlled rollout, and reporting, we help you implement patch processes in a structured manner and provide clear visibility into them. Managed Software does not, in and of itself, make an organization compliant, but it does support the technical measures and evidence required to achieve compliance.
Do you also manage Microsoft and Google licenses? For comprehensive management of Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, users, identities, and access, we offer Managed Productivity and Identity. Managed Software focuses primarily on software, updates, and related license management.
